swap with ria

Back in early November I was very excited when Ria and I made arrangements to swap tiles (see hers here).  Later in the month, however, our family suffered 3 losses within 3 weeks.  My Grandmother's health deteriorated quickly and she passed away 7 weeks before her 100th birthday from pneumonia.  Two separate friends' pups, also very important to our family, passed away suddenly one from cancer and one was poisoned by wild mushrooms.

What I discovered after all of that is that I draw when I am feeling happy and relaxed.
Some artists do their best work when they are in the darkest of places, but I just can't seem to do that, so the past few months I have done very little drawing.

With the busyness of the holidays and birthdays that fill our calendar in December and January now behind me,
I recently picked up my pens again to tangle.

Here are the tiles that Ria sent me

And this is how I finished them

This tile was totally unplanned, I had no idea how it was going to turn out.  Ria started with metallic pens so I purchased an assortment of Gelly Roll Metallic pens to complete the tile.
Can you tell that Valentine's Day is sneaking into my mind?!

This tile, which I completed first, flowed easily and quickly.  I am quite happy with how this turned out.

Thanks so much for sending these lovely tiles and for swapping with me Ria!

  1. Both of these tiles turned out beautifully, but I really love the bottom one, the black and white.

  3. Wonderful results, I love them both, just because they are so different but both are drawn so lovely. Thank you for swapping Joey and warm regards from Belgium. I wish you all the best for the future.

  4. Lovely tiles. I feel like you - I can also not tangle when I am in a dark place.
