I hope everyone had a fun Hallowe'en evening!
Despite the drizzly weather we followed our yearly tradition of visiting a few of our neighbours and then coming home to a hot bowl of soup with the Grandparents!
This year I decided to try something new to take the emphasis off of the enormous amount of candy the kids collect.
I opened a Trick or Treat Shop!
This shop was like no other, this shop only accepted candy as "payment"! The kids used the candy that they were willing to part with for other treats that could be enjoyed forever.
I sold books, toy cars, jewelry, fruit chews and the big mystery prizes . . . T-shirts! Each item was tagged with how many candies it would cost for them to "buy" it.
My son was very excited and happily handed over handfuls of unwanted chocolate bars and sweets. My daughter was a little less enthusiastic at first but was very pleased when she unwrapped a t-shirt that she had been admiring in a store recently!
There are still some sugary treats to enjoy (with ingredients that I recognize) but I felt a little better trading them for other kinds of treats, rather than just confiscating the nasty stuff.
