For months now I have been admiring terrariums.
I have seen them on Pinterest, other websites, and I read in this book how easy it is to make a terrarium and observe the water cycle with your children.
I kept telling myself that I don't do well with houseplants. I can grow plants in the garden, but my houseplants often die.
Then one day I walked into the thrift store and knew that I HAD to make one . . . I saw the most perfect terrarium . . .
this sweet mushroom!
this sweet mushroom!
So I did it!
~ a thin layer of small rocks.
~ a thin layer of activated charcoal.
~ about 2" of dirt.
~ 2 tiny tropical plants.
~ a couple of rocks, a shell and two tiny toadstools for colour!
(yes it's that simple!)
I LOVE IT!

I printed the water cycle diagram here from the Playful Learning printables (scroll to page 4), and have it on the coffee table for the kids to observe the changes.
Simple, interesting (and pretty) learning experiences for everyone!
What kinds of creative learning are you doing with your family?
