a busy weekend

I hope all of you Mums had a wonderful weekend!
I was surprised with the above banner made by my kids.  My son rose early and started working on it at 6:30am!  Don't you love how the letters are all different sizes?!

They'd both been busy at school creating all kinds of cards and goodies.  This card is from my daughter.

And my hubby made me this apple rhubarb pie (with spelt crust!) with rhubarb from the garden!  It's so yummy!

The weather has been gorgeous so we swept off the sundeck and brought out all the furniture.

...and of course some games and snacks too!

From the deck we can see all of our happy seedlings in the living room window - tomatoes, kale and basil!  The tomatoes are brought out onto the deck during the day to harden them off and it's almost warm enough for the stevia to go back outside too.

And here they are out enjoying the sunshine!  We didn't plant as many this year (a few years we've had such good germination results that we had 100 to deal with!)  We give some to friends but we usually keep about 20 for ourselves.

I've set up this area to have a few pots of flowers, herbs and veggies.
I'm envisioning it bursting with lush greens and bright colours.

And it seems that I was out voted on growing a zucchini in the oak barrel this year.  They all decided that a water garden would be much more fun.  Our goldfish were all eaten by raccoons a couple of years ago so at the time I said "no more!"

...what can I say, they got me at a weak moment!  ;o)

So I'm quite sure that 3* new fishies will be joining us soon.
(I said only 3 right!?...you are my witnesses!)

* did you know that according to feng shui you should only have
3, 6, 8 or 9 fish in your pond? *

So there are lots of new possibilities for creative gardening, I'll keep you posted on our progress!

Oh! and we have finally started working on the fairy garden so I'll be posting photos of that later this week.
