garden of weedin'

Siberian Iris are one of my favourite flowers

After a long holiday weekend (Victoria Day) with great weather we can now look back and see the rewards of having spent many hours in the yard!

I suppose I should have taken "before" photos for you to know what we did, but think of it this way...we could barely make out that there was bark mulch on the ground for the weeds!  It's just been one of those years where the warm Spring brought perfect conditions for the weeds to grow and grow and grow!

The concrete jungle is doing very well.  All of our fruits, veggies, herbs, teas and flowers are enjoying the warm Spring as well!

The peas were trellised by my hubby who does it so artistically.

Lots of strawberries flowering and the mint is growing quickly!

We now have 6 tubes full of mason bees!

And the bumble bees are enjoying the Rhododendron which is a brilliant red at the moment! (can you spot the bumble's bum?)

Have you been out enjoying your garden?

  2. So beautiful! It looks just lovely. We just put in another sq foot garden for more tomatoes. We'll see how it goes this year. It's a bit sunnier in our new yard, not a great thing in NM.

  5. Goodness your garden is flourishing! We are having a terrible cold and wet spring, which my garden is not liking at all.

    1. Yes, it can be done! I can't imagine looking after 5 acres of garden, I don't think I have the energy for that. Although it would be wonderful to be able to produce most of your own food on that much land.
