pretty pots for spring

About this time of year I begin to notice how bedraggled our front porch pots are starting to look so today I replanted them up with some pretty spring flowers!

The little planter in the above photo sits on our porch window sill
and greets us with a cheery hello every morning on our way out the door.

I also planted up our larger pots that we have on either side of our front entrance.  I have deliberately placed these planters in this location because Feng Shui states the importance of having a healthy front entrance to the home and suggests adding plants on either side of the entrance.  It also states that having dead plants in the pots can rob the home of positive energy and the occupants begin to feel "bedraggled" as well.

So I began by removing the dead plants, salvaged the violas that should perk up as soon as the temperature starts to warm up and added a few new primulas.

Then I added the plants and reused a few things from my son's dresser drawer fairy garden that sadly didn't fair so well this winter.

A little moss around the plants and a wood mushroom, a popsicle stick fence and some shiny glass pebbles made our pots very whimical indeed!

I find Feng Shui really fascinating and have read some really great books on the subject.  I highly recommend Holistic Home by Joanna Trevelyan or searching online for articles about Feng Shui if you are interested in learning more about bringing good Chi to your home.

Tomorrow I will be celebrating Chinese New Year with my daughter's class and I'm in charge of the Chinese Skipping Station.  Wish me luck!
Have a great day!
