What I liked:
Unjunk your Junk Food is the perfect book for those starting out
on the healthy food journey!
The book contains lots of valuable information about basic nutrition, ingredient definitions, and teaches how to understand ingredient labels by identifying key phrases. (ie:  organic, low fat, etc.)   The book is small enough to toss into your bag to take with you to the grocery store or to flip through when waiting for an appointment.  There are lots of interesting "did you know . . . ?" facts and I found it especially interesting that my low iron levels may be the reason I crave salty snacks?

What I might change:
Those that have been on the healthy food journey for a while, may find that this book contains foods that they have already omitted from their diets.
Suggestions  for"non junk food alternatives" such as buying bulk raw trail mix containing fruit, nuts, seeds, etc. instead of just grabbing a "healthier" box of granola bars, may appeal to people at every stage of healthy eating.

  1. This sounds like a great book! We are already trying to eat healthy, but sometimes that is very difficult as there are few alternatives here in Kenya. I would love to win a copy to give me some more concrete knowledge on which foods or ingredients to avoid.

  6. This sounds like an interesting book. Thank you for providing the giveaway! I would say that chocolate would be the hardest thing for me to give up and my husband loves junk food so there always seems to be something in the house to reach for. Just wanted to let you know that I found your blog through Playful Learning and am happy to see a Western Canadian blog!
